Bofors: Court reserves order on CBI’s ‘Q’ plea

NEW DELHI: Fate of Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi will be decided soon with a trial court on Friday reserving the order for October 24 on the plea of CBI to withdraw the Bofors pay-off case against him. The court will also take a decision on the plea of an advocate, who opposed the CBI’s bid to withdraw the case saying that the agency was trying to close the ‘‘politically sensitive’’ case despite having ‘‘sufficient evidence’’ against the 69-year-old Italian businessman.

The CBI, on the other hand, sought rejection of the plea opposing withdrawal saying politics and publicity should not decide such matters.
